For those of you who don’t follow us on Twitter, we’ll forgive you for not noticing our stand at NordevCon. What a great event though. It’s our first real foray into the Norwich development scene and a great way to meet new and interesting people.
Our understanding is that it was a little smaller than previous years, but the main auditoriom was certainly busy enough! We had a table right at the back right next to the tea stand which provide a great choice as people would refuel and then come and talk to us.
As it was our first event as a sponsor we were a little unsure as how best to pitch it but as it was a developer conference we thought pitching automated build and test services along with Container Orchestration wasn’t too bad an idea and it turned out to be a great one.
We took along a cool Juju deployment which ran a Kubernetes cluster which in turn ran the engine to the Steam game ARK. This got a lot of people coming by and asking about the game which in turn allowed us to demonstrate Juju and Kubernetes in a pretty nifty and informative demo.
We also had DC/OS running which caught a few peoples attention, after all who doesn’t love a cool dashboard?
On day two we switched it up a bit and deployed Openstack and Hadoop which again got people talking. It’s amazing how many people recognise the Hadoop elephant from distance especially when we’re not at a Data conference.
Thanks to everyone who came by the booth, you made it a great event and a great learning tool. Thanks for Paul and Emily for putting on the show, and thanks to Canonical for supplying some marketing material, even if our own stuff was more popular!
See you all again next year!
